The New Normal (Leaving Social Media)

I never thought I'd be the person writing this.

For years, social media felt like part of my job. It was where I shared weddings, families, tiny in-between moments, late-night edits, coffee-fueled mornings, and pieces of my life that somehow became part of my business. It was where I met so many incredible people, where clients found me, where friendships started, and where this little dream of mine continued to grow.

But somewhere along the way... it changed.

Or maybe I did.

The noise became louder than the joy.

The pressure became heavier than the creativity.

The algorithms became more important than the art.

Instead of asking myself, "What story do I want to tell?" I found myself asking, "Will this perform well?"

That's not why I picked up a camera.

I didn't fall in love with photography because of views or engagement or trending audio. I fell in love with it because photographs let us keep time. They preserve the little things that disappear before we even realize they're gone.

A toddler's tiny hand reaching for mom.

The way your spouse looks at you when no one else is watching.

Those moments don't need an algorithm to matter.

They never did.

So after thinking about it for a long time, I've decided to step away from social media.

Not because I hate it.

Not because I think it's wrong.

Simply because it no longer feels like home.

I've realized that I miss slower corners of the internet.

I miss blogs.

I miss websites that felt personal instead of performative.

I miss clicking through galleries and feeling them instead of swiping past them in half a second.

I miss reading someone's thoughts without ads, trends, opinions, or endless doomscrolling pulling me in another direction.

I miss when creating online felt... peaceful.

So this is where you'll find me now.

This website is becoming my little corner of the internet.

My new (or maybe very old) version of an Instagram feed.

When I photograph a beautiful wedding...

It'll be here.

When I film a love story...

It'll be here.

When I have thoughts worth sharing...

They'll be here.

When I learn something, create something, travel somewhere, or simply want to tell a story...

You'll find it here.

No chasing trends.

No wondering if a post disappeared because the algorithm decided it wasn't interesting enough.

No pressure to constantly keep up.

Just real work.

Real stories.

Real people.

A place where moments can live longer than twenty-four hours before disappearing into the next trend.
